Allegra Levy is a New York jazz singer and composer who recently did a seven-month artist residency at the Hong Kong Four Seasons hotel. Educated at New England Conservatory, she is known for writing catchy, emotive songs grounded in tradition with a nod to the progressive. Ben Ratliff, writing in The New York Times, called her first album, LONELY CITY, “fresh… exotic… and beyond the ordinary.” “…the world is overdue for how much fresh air she’s breathing into a time-tested idiom,” stated New York Music Daily “Those who like the classics won’t find her hopelessly lost in the hashtag generation; likewise, those of this generation who might think what she does is dated are in for a serious wakeup call.” Her new album, CITIES BETWEEN US, offering more original tunes, will be released on SteepleChase in the Spring of 2017. It features Billy Drummond, Jay Anderson, Carmen Staaf, Kirk Knuffke and Stephen Riley.
