2015 BMI/Evelyn Buckstein award winner, jazz saxophonist and composer Berta Moreno has the innate gift of connecting with an audience and communicating her passion and enthusiasm through music.

Berta’s strong personality is reflected in her unique dark and warm sound on the tenor and her beautiful energy and optimism come through her improvisations in the most honest way.

She is presenting a set of original compositions rooted in the straight ahead jazz tradition with a personal “twist”.  Swing, fresh and evocative melodies, rhythmic games and spontaneity are elements always present in Berta’s music.

Berta has been exploring possibilities of jazz quartet/quintet touring in Europe for over 3 years, being awarded 1st prize at Zoetermeer Jazz Competition and 2nd prize nominated by the audience at Leidse Jazz Competition in The Netherlands in 2013.

After moving to New York in 2014 she started working on her new project “Berta Moreno Jazz Quintet”, sharing the stage with some of the best jazz artists in the New York Jazz scene, such as Steve Wilson, Shai Maestro or Jason Rigby. She is planning to record this project for her debut album “Little Steps” in the near future.

“Berta Moreno has the sound of wisdom, the warmth of spiritualness, and the sparkle of imagination.” – Steve Wilson

“Berta Moreno – an expressive and highly engaging fresh voice on the scene as both a tenor saxophonist and composer.” – Mike Holober
