“The Next Step” Sessions

An accomplished Composer, Producer, Guitarist and Educator, Costas is a founding member and principal composer of the World Fusion band Iasis, which was founded in 1995 along with Petros Kourtis on percussion and Yiotis Kiourtsoglou on bass. The band has sold thousands of albums and performed in top venues and festivals in Greece, Spain, Germany and Luxemburg. They have collaborated on stage and have recorded with leading performers. Iasis’ discography includes the albums Iasis (1996) and Amalgama (1999), as well as the Cd single Amalgama Mix (2000) under the label of Lyra Records and the album Duente (2003) under the label of Emarcy, Universal Records.

As a highly sought-after session player, Costas has contributed in more than 100 records and produced 20 albums for various artists. In 2002, Costas composed the soundtrack for the movie “Paradise is a Personal Affair” released under Legend Records. He has performed in a number of countries including USA, Greece, Spain, Finland, Israel, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Germany. He has had the pleasure to play next to many accomplished musicians such as: Alex Foster, The Mingus Orchestra, Arturo Sandoval, David Friedman, Jeff Tain Watts, James Genus, Mike Wolff, Kenwood Dennard, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, The Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra. Costas Baltazanis records in 2015 his highly anticipated new record, a soundtrack to his inspired New York  experience called “End of Seas.”

Building upon his long music career in Greece and 4 studio albums with his band Iasis, Costas Baltazanis finds himself on the other side of the Atlantic, in a Brooklyn studio, recording a brand new personal record. It is heavily influenced by the last couple of years of exposure to the New York jazz scene while retaining strong Mediterranean flavor.
