Dominic Palombi, a recent graduate, Jazz Drum Set Performance Major from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University has been surrounded by music since the age of 10, studying mainly drums for 12 years in addition to piano for 3 years and singing for 5 years. Dominic has been fortunate to win drum solo competitions across New Jersey, but also claimed multiple soloist awards as well as the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award during his last year at Bridgewater-Raritan High School. Dominic’s talent ranges in multiple styles of music varying Jazz, Funk, Rock, Metal, and many others including multiple pit orchestra experiences for playing various musicals such as: Legally Blonde, The Producers, Godspell and many others. He is also fortunate enough to have studied with legendary jazz drummer, Victor Lewis and many other prestigious professors at Mason Gross. Dominic was a member (now Alumni) of the Rutgers University Glee Club, one of the worlds oldest and prestigious Men’s Choir that has existed since 1872. Currently, Dominic leads his visions with his group, “The Dom Palombi Project” ranging in originals, popular tunes, and “funkifying” classic jazz standards.
Lindsay Pordraza had this to say last year at the final concert of the Boysie Lowery Living Jazz Residency 2015 in Wilmington, Delaware mentioning Dominic’s composition “Nothing But The Truth”: “Each composition was commendable, but “Nothing But The Truth”, composed by drummer Dominic Palombi, brought down the house. If there’s such a thing as rock ‘n’ roll in jazz, this was it. One woman felt the beat so strongly she got up from her seat to dance. If I had it on ITunes I’d probably play it every morning as a pump-up song” (Town Square Delaware Blog)
