DOMINIQUE GAGNE Born in Londonderry, NH to French-Canadian parents, flutist/pianist/composer Dominique Gagné is a versatile musician who combines traditional
folk and dance genres with world music and jazz to create a unique sonic palette. With degrees in studio jazz writing and multiple trips to study music in Brazil, Cuba, Argentina, Haiti and Indonesia, Dominique has drawn upon these experiences to develop an
unconventional approach to improvisation.
Her most recent collaboration with pianist Albert Marquès is a direct expression of this approach, allowing both artists to bring any genre, idea or color to the table.
A strong supporter of women in jazz, she produced the 2005 Women in Jazz Festival at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
ALBERT MARQUES Marques (Spain, 1986) is a Catalan piano player from Barcelona with a contemporary and deeply rhythmic style influenced by Latin-jazz and Flamenco.
In Spain he played with musicians like Marc Miralta and Perico Sambeat. He lived in Paris where he played with great musicians on the French scene, like Pierre Perchaud and Rémi Vignolo. During his third and last year in Paris he was a member of the quartet
of the minimalist Leon Parker. Since 2011, he has lived in New York, where he works with his mentor Arturo O’Farrill and he has played with musicians like Ari Hoenig, Nir Felder, Gilad Hekselman… Marques has performed at Birdland, Blue Note, Stone, Fat Cat,
Duc des Lombards, Jamboree, and a long list of clubs and festivals on both sides of the Atlantic, including the legendary Montreal Jazz Festival.
