Nino Arobelidze is a Tbilisi born Chicago based vocalist, songwriter and producer. Girl Named Nino is her latest music project. It is a band, a person and an album (2016 Ni Fu Ni Fa Records). Nino Arobelidze’s sound combines Soul and Indie-rock with the sensibilities of Jazz and World Music, creating a unique musical experience for concert-goers. Nino is currently recording her latest album Lost at the Bazaar and gearing up for her Spring/Summer 2017 tour.
Nino moved to the U.S. as a teenager. While attending DePaul University Music School, she put together her first group, The CrossRoads Project, self-releasing her Strange Brew EP in 2011. Her first full length solo release, NOMAD in 2014 established her as an artist to watch among numerous media outlets while her live performances continued to gain momentum with listeners. “In each of her songs you can hear the underlying of jazz cruising over the cool, subtle beats” wrote Cynthia Crawford (The Chronicle), while Tony Sarabia of WBEZ compared Nino’s voice to Billie Holiday’s (WorldView).
Building on the 2016 national tour that earned Girl Named Nino impressive accolades and sold out shows in NYC, L.A., Chicago and Madison among others, Nino (voice/guitar/piano), joined by Pablo Gordy (guitar/voice) and surprise guest, will be returning to Club Bonafide for two sets on Sat, May 6th.
