Accompanied by the composer, arranger and guitarist Jaime Alem and by percussionist Felipe Tauil, both of whom came specially from Brazil for these concerts, Joao Fenix will present the repertoire of his last work “Back to the Beginning” (Biscoito Fino, 2016) and of a few other composers who contributed to form him musically as Tom Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes and Edu Lobo.
Joao Fenix appeared in the music scene of Brazil in the mid-90s. His keen voice, his androgynous ways and his interpretation attracted attention from the beginning. He has released five albums, and has staged in shows throughout Brazil, the Americas and Europe. Described as a “singer with a rare voice”, he’ll be releasing his sixth album in 2018.
During the Blues Alley show, Joao Fenix will sing some songs from his most recent album such as ”Último desejo” (Noel Rosa), “Língua do P” (Gilberto Gil) and “Minha Festa” (Nelson Cavaquinho) in addition to “Insensatez” (Antonio Carlos Jobim) and Dindi (Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira).”
