Saxophonist, John Maurice Restrepo, Originally from Brentwood, New York. Restrepo is a multi-instrumentalist focusing on soprano, alto and tenor saxophones, flute and clarinet. He has worked and recorded with groups including: The JazzCumbia Project, The John Restrepo Quartet, The Welfare Poets, Blitz the Ambassador, The Scofflaws, Hassan Salam, Public Enemy, Fat Cat Big Band, Interplay Jazz Orchestra, Rob Murat, Queen Rose, Miss Marie, and recorded Saxophone for the score in the documentary Bronx Princess, and on FOX’s Fearless Music with Blitz the Ambassador.
Restrepo was a student at New York University, and The City College of New York. He has performed and studied with Arturo O’Farrill, Ralph Lalama, Rich Perry, Ron McClure, David Murray Jim Cammack, Dominic Duval Jr. and many others. Currently, John is leading his quartet playing throughout Long Island, Westchester, and NYC. The Quartet has a residence at Tap And Barrel since 2015. The first set is comprised of original compositions by John Maurice Restrepo and other members of the band as well Jazz Standards. Along with being a great hang, it’s one of the rare, weekly Long Island Jazz Jam Sessions.
