After many recordings as a band member, Mareike Wiening released her first solo album in 2014. “Crosswalk” features six modern and progressive jazz songs written by the upcoming jazz artist from Erlangen.
Her music, which was particularly inspired by the American jazz vibraphonist Stefon Harris, emphasizes an easy and catchy melody. The CD was recorded at Dolan Studio in New York City and features some of the most famous musicians of the NYC jazz scene.
Mareike will celebrate “Crosswalk” with an outstanding group of international musicians at Club Bonafide. The band consists of leader Mareike Wiening on drums, Andrew Gould on alto saxophone, guitar player Alex Goodman, Glenn Zaleski on Piano, and Johannes Felscher on Bass.
Mareike Wiening holds a Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Jazz from the University of Performing Arts in Mannheim and completed another Master of Music Degree at New York University. She has played at the ENJOY JAZZ Festival, Women in Jazz Festival and at important venues throughout Europe and the US, including Carnegie Hall and the Blue Note in New York City. She endorses MEINL Cymbals exclusively.
