In recent years, DeReyes has achieved acclaim in the United States, including the 2017 Mexican Music Awards in New York City, and special nominations in NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest and the 2016 Independent Music Awards. The Mexican-born musician, now based in New York City, releases in 2018 his new album, “Mar Adentro,” produced by multiple Grammy award winner, Cheo Pardo (DJ Afro; Los Amigos Invisibles).
“Mar Adentro” is part of his most ambitious project to date, the recording of his forthcoming album Nómada. This album was a new and fresh alternative on Kickstarter, earning a first place recognition for Latin music projects within the collective funding platform. In “Mar Adentro,” DeReyes incorporates elements of Pop and Electronic (House), and maintains his characteristic genre-bending, ‘collage song’ style.
Pablo Reyes, now performing as DeReyes, is recognized as an innovative and passionate musician within the artistic circles of Europe, the United States and Latin America. Originally born in Mexico and partly raised in Brazil, he began playing guitar at the age of 10. He moved to Europe in 2008 to pursue his artistic career. After 5 years between Barcelona and the Netherlands, DeReyes is currently based in New York City.
