René Calvin is worldwide one of the most inspiring bass players and composers of Afro-Brazilian Jazz. While born and raised in Cameroun he always admired Brazilian artists like Tania Maria and Baden Powell. In his 30’s and without any musical education, he found himself playing for famous jazz, pop and rock artists like Alicia Keys, George Clinton and Patricia Kaas. At 40 René discovered his biological father was Brazilian which completely changed his life and music. He injected Bossa Nova, Samba, Flamenco and Classical music in his already amazing afro-funk-jazz compositions. A rebel pur sang!
